The new-look MoneySense for Schools site is coming soon!

This autumn, we're delighted to bring you the new MoneySense for Schools website.

The updated site will build on and improve existing content and features, but will offer a more visually stimulating environment for students with tailored access to topics, new videos, interactive elements, as well as lesson plans and resources for teachers.

From September, you will be able to access the new versions of Bank on it and The Credit file, while Money for life and We're in business will be available later on in the term.

Why is MoneySense changing?

We have had great feedback on MoneySense. But the world of money and finance is constantly changing and young people, teachers and volunteers who deliver lessons in schools have all suggested ways to improve and update these valuable resources. We also want to make the site more accessible and suitable for a wide range of young people.

Here are some of the changes we've made:

  • Using a new design style, with a more visual and less text-based approach
  • New structure and search functionality
  • Greater interactivity and use of video
  • New topical content

How will this help you teach MoneySense

  • More videos and interactive activities will now bring the subject alive, including case studies and starter activities. Quizzes will be added for each topic.
  • Students will be able to personalise their own MoneySense page and will have access to personal budgeting tools to help them manage their own finances.
  • Content is brought up to date to include topical subjects, fact files and a virtual bank.
  • Curriculum coverage is extended to cover more of Business Studies, Social, Personal and Health Education, Home economics and maths.
  • A daily newsfeed will offer fresh, topical information that teachers and students can choose to discuss current topics and add stories to their social networking accounts.
  • New functionality will enable you to use the site as a virtual learning environment, setting up classrooms, lesson packages, homework as well as keeping track of their students' progress.
  • Age grouping labels are removed, but referenced in the teachers' notes and signposting given to students to help them find the most suitable content.
  • Modules and topics given clearer names and structure. The website will be less text heavy, more direct and visual, with more information available through a collection of fact files.
  • Greater flexibility to help you find ready-made resources or just videos and activities to dip into to integrate as part of your own lesson plans.

What if I need to use something from the current site?

Don't worry if you have planned to use the current site in the autumn, this will be available for a while alongside the new site, to give you a chance to explore and get to know the new features.
